| Description:
        This Shivastalam is located near Kannigaipper, near Periyapalayam near Chennai. The area
        around the temple is known as Maadavilagam. This is the 18th of the 32
          Tevara Stalams in the Tondai region of South India. Legends: Bhrigu Muni is
        said to have worshipped Shiva (Dakshinamurthy) in this shrine known as Vajravanam in
        Sanskrit. The image shown above is that of the stucco images of Dakshinamurthy on the
        Gajaprashta Vimanam at the Tirumagaral
        Shivastalam near Kanchipuram.   
        The Temple: Subramanya's shrine is situated in between the Shiva and
        Parvati shrines as in Tirukkarukavur near
        Kumbhakonam. Inscriptions from the Chola, Pandya and Vijayanagar Emperors are seen here.  
        Festivals: Vinayaka Chaturthi, Navaratri and Skanda Sashti are
        celebrated here.  |
