This ancient temple housing the deity Shiva (Bhramapureeswarar - Sattanathar, Toniappar) is known to have existed 1300 years ago and has been sung by the great Tamil saints. Legend has it that the Saint Poet Tirugnana Sambandar, in his infancy was fed with milk, by the divine Mother, the consort of Shiva.
